The Rotary Club of Columbia Northwest Foundation, also known as the Northwest “Club Foundation“, is an avenue for the club to accumulate funds in a permanent endowed funding source and to do so in a tax qualified 501(c)(3) corporation.  This Foundation, formed by Northwest Rotary members in the late nineteen nineties, is focused on funding to local philanthropic activities in Columbia and the surrounding area.  It is the perfect complement to the Rotary Foundation, formed by Rotary International, which focuses on service activities on an international level.

The Rotary Club of Columbia Northwest Foundation offers grants of approximately $500 to $5000 to local and regional 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations. We specialize in funding small non-profit organizations or projects that might not otherwise receive funding and prefer to fund projects that offer maximum impact to individual lives. We do not fund operating costs or capital campaigns.

On a semi-annual basis, the Foundation solicits qualified 501(c)(3) organizations to apply for Foundation funds.  Interested organizations should submit their requests by including all information requested on the Foundation Application Form.  Applications postmarked on or before March 15 will be acted upon by June 30.  Applications postmarked on or before September 15 will be acted upon by December 31.   Applications can be mailed to Columbia Northwest Rotary Foundation, PO Box 189, Columbia, MO  65205.  As of June 2017, the Club Foundation has distributed over $180,000 to dozens of local organizations.

The Foundation’s primary source of funding includes annual contributions from Club members, proceeds from the Club’s Annual fund raising, Patterson Pot ticket sales and fines, and investment interest earned on the corpus.  Persons contributing $1,000 or more are distinguished as Joe Machens Fellows.  Annual contributions of $100 or more qualify for the distinction of Joe Machens Sustaining Member.  Contributions can be made at the same time as annual Club dues or anytime during the year.  The Joe Machens Fellow distinction is in honor of a deceased member that exemplified “service above self”.
